6 WEEK POLITICAL ECONOMY MASTER CLASS
Citizens Manifesto and Gateway Zimbabwe in collaboration with SIVIO Institute, ZIMCODD and LEDRIZ are hosting a Political Economy Master Class (PEMC). This course is targeted at civic society community organisers, activists, academics and the general public with an interest in deepening their understanding of the political economy of Zimbabwe.
The course will answer key questions on the ZImbabwean situation as it relates to key areas of the economy, governance, social contract and how we as a country are preparing for and have historically been influenced by global markets, highlighting the impact of that influence in our current status. The PEMC is a unique aggregation of the best academic and socially conscious minds in Zimbabwe with regards to politics, governance, resource utilisation, community mobilization and the impact of the digital age on civic engagement.
All these aspects will be carefully aggregated into one course hosted online over 6 weeks.
The objectives of the PEMC are as follows:
-
To enhance knowledge, analytical and interpretive skills of community organizers, activists and civil society leaders
-
To equip communities with the capacity to design and implement appropriate interventions to solve local problems using experiential and participatory methods of learning
-
To build on the outcomes of the National Citizens’ Conventions from 2018-2020 which are to put the citizens at the centre of politics and governance, of an economy driven by communities and of rebuilding a healthy social contract
-
To create a catalyst for community driven social innovations
